Bonnies Capture Midweek Doubleheader Sweep at Le Moyne

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader on the road at Le Moyne Wednesday afternoon.

The Bonnies grabbed game one, 7-1, before coming from behind in game two to win in extra innings, 10-7.

Game 1 – St. Bonaventure 7, Le Moyne 1
The Bonnies jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Nolah Moyer singled to right field, allowing Sydney DeGram to cross home.

The Bonnies doubled their lead to 2-0 in the third following an RBI ground out from Moyer.

The Dolphins pulled one back in the bottom of the fourth, scoring on an RBI single to make it a 2-1 game.

Bona's pulled away for good in the top of the seventh, plating five runs in the frame on a single, a groundout and an error.

Mackenzie Frani went the distance for the Brwon and White, scattering just three hits and striking out four.

Game 2 – St. Bonaventure 10, Le Moyne 7 – 8 innings
The Dolphins got out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a pair of singles and a double steal.

The Bonnies started to chip away at the deficit in the top of the second when Grace Miller scored on a wild pitch.

In the third, Colsten Beers reached on a fielder's choice that brought home Kymora Wang and making it a 5-2 ballgame.

The score would remain 5-2 in favor of the hosts until the top of the seventh when Wang stepped up and belted a three-run home run to force extra innings.

In the extra frame, Abigail Ahern brought in a pair on a single up the middle before Lauren Dundon brought in three more runs on a home run, pushing the Bonnies lead to 10-5.

Le Moyne looked to make a comeback in the bottom of the eighth.

The Dolphins made it 10-6 on a wild pitch and added a seventh run on a solo home run.

It was not enough as Kendall Stull entered and recorded the final three outs of the contest, securing the doubleheader sweep.

UP NEXT
The Bonnies are back at home this weekend to host Saint Louis for a three-game series at Joyce Field. First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is set for 12:00 p.m.
