OPENING DRAW
The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team will play its final regular season contest of the 2026 season this Saturday against George Washington at the Marra Athletics Complex. The opening draw is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. with the action streaming on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies dominated La Salle last Saturday in their most recent appearance, winning 19-9 on the road led by a historic performance from senior Brooke Piper. The captain set new single-game program records for points (11) and goals (9), also tallying three draw controls and pairs of assists, groundballs and caused turnovers. Her nine goals in the win are the most by any Atlantic 10 player in a single game since 2023 and are tied for the most by any Division I player this season.

SBU never trailed in the contest, benefiting from additional major scoring outputs courtesy of freshman Gracie Williams (5G), sophomore Sidney Van Tassel (3G-1A) and seniors Rylee Gonzalez (1G-2A) and Grace Hollenbeck (1G-2A).

POSTSEASON POSITION
Heading into the final weekend of the 2026 regular season having already clinched a spot in the A-10 Tournament, the Bonnies can mathematically earn a three, four, five or six seed depending on Saturday's game outcomes. SBU is currently tied with Saint Joseph's and Davidson with all three programs holding a 5-3 conference record.

Should the Bonnies seize the third seed, it would match the highest postseason ranking in program history, last achieved in 2006. The team has also clinched a second straight season with a winning record in conference play, a feat not accomplished since the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Furthermore, a win over George Washington would give the Brown and White their 12th conference victory in the past two seasons, the most across any two-year span in program history. The team has secured eight or more wins in three straight seasons for the first time since meeting the mark five years in a row from 2003 to 2007.

BONA'S BEST
The Bonnies have been led by Brooke Piper this year as she paces the team in both points (65) and goals (57). Her goal total ranks seventh in the nation while her point total ranks 35th. Earlier this season, the midfielder broke the program's career goals record on the first possession of the game against Duquesne (3/18). She went on to score nine points on seven goals and two assists that afternoon, helping SBU to a 14-9 victory.

The Aurora, Ontario native's career goal total currently sits at 180, tied for the eighth most among all active Division I players and good for the most in the A-10. She also already owns the second-most draw controls ever by a Bonnie (255) behind only classmate Megan Schillinger, an achievement that further etches her into to Bona's record books alongside her single-game program records from this past Saturday against La Salle.

Adding to Piper's notability across the St. Bonaventure record books are her 2026 single-season totals which already rank impressively high considering the Bonnies still have at least two games to play. The captain's current total of 65 points ties Brenna Houghton, '08 for the 11th most in a single season in program history. Her 57 goals this year rank third all-time while her 59 draw controls are sixth all-time, one spot above current head coach and Bona's alum Leigh Ann Stauffer, '17, who tallied 58 draw controls in 2015. Piper has scored 11 free position goals this season for the ninth highest single-season total in SBU history, a mark which she met in just 16 attempts.

The captain's 57 goals rank second of any player in the A-10 this year while her 65 points rank fourth. She has claimed three A-10 Offensive Player of the Week designations this season, marking the most in a single season in program history and bringing her career total to four.

Adding to Bona's representation amongst the A-10 statistical leaderboards is fellow senior captain Brit Colangelo. She leads the conference with 36 caused turnovers, a total which ranks fourth all-time in Bonnies single-season history and gives her the 24th most caused turnovers per game in the nation. Her 39 groundballs currently rank second in the conference and first on the team.

Colangelo has caused a total of 129 turnovers to this point in her career which is the second most in program history, the third most amongst all active Division I players and the most in the A-10. She has also collected 171 groundballs, good for fourth place in the program and seventh among active D-1 competition. She earned an A-10 Defensive Player of the Week selection after totaling six caused turnovers and securing three groundballs across two games against Furman (3/4) and Davidson (3/7).

Schillinger owns the Bonnies' career draw controls record by a long shot with 299, needing just one tally against La Salle to reach a major milestone. Her 78 draw controls this season are the fourth most in the A-10 and the third most by a Bonnie in a single season ever.

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
The Bonnies boast eight double-digit scorers this season. Along with Piper and Schillinger, they are seniors Rylee Gonzalez (35 PTS, 19G-16A) and Grace Hollenbeck (21 PTS, 14G-7A), junior Kierstin Hillis (11 PTS, 6G-5A), sophomore Sidney Van Tassel (28 PTS, 22G-6A) and freshmen Riley Milligan (25 PTS, 18G-7A) and Gracie Williams (24 PTS, 16G-8A).

On the defensive side, senior captains Colangelo (36 CT, 39 GB) and Kate Hennessey (13 CT, 19 GB), junior Olivia Peeler (14 CT, 20 GB), sophomore Kylie Pfeffer (7 CT, 5 GB), and freshman Lilliana Bertrando (3 CT, 1 GB) have each appeared in all 16 contests. Freshman Brooke Owens has appeared in 15 games, causing 13 turnovers and scooping 27 groundballs.

BETWEEN THE POSTS
Sophomore goalkeeper Judy Mahoney has appeared in every game this season and has made 103 stops for a save rate of 44.4 percent. Her total saves, save percentage and average goals allowed (8.99) all rank sixth in the conference.

Mahoney was tabbed the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week after making nine saves in a full 60-minute effort against Long Island (2/13), allowing just two goals and stonewalling all four of the Sharks' free position attempts. The feat represented the first time since 2013 that the Bonnies had allowed two or fewer goals in a game.

ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON
  • Coached by Colleen McCaffery in her fourth consecutive season, the Revolutionaries hold a 9-6 overall record with an even 4-4 conference record. They toppled Duquesne in their most recent appearance by a score of 19-8 to clinch a postseason A-10 Tournament appearance.
  • Senior attacker Grace Curry has been a scoring machine in 2026, recording 64 goals to lead the conference. She leads the Revolutionaries with 65 points as she has also tallied an assist.
  • Joining Curry on the attack is freshman Mia Milkowski, who ranks second on the team with 63 points (33G-30A).
  • This weekend's visitors boast three starting defenders who have caused double-digit turnovers this season: junior Merrill Klein (13) and seniors Stella Ray (16) and Parker Cranz (15).
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Gabi Greth has started in all 15 games for George Washington, making 107 saves in that time for a save rate of 42.8 percent.

SERIES HISTORY
The Revolutionaries own the all-time series lead over the Bonnies at a mark of 16-7. Last season, the Bonnies took a 17-7 win on the road to extend their streak to two victories over George Washington. Piper led all active Bonnies in that contest with four points (3G-1A), followed by Gonzalez (2G-1A), Van Tassel (1G-1A), Schillinger (1G) and Hollenbeck (1G).
