ANNAPOLIS, MD – The St. Bonaventure University men's tennis team kicked off its fall season at Navy at the Joe Hunt Invitational Sept. 11-13.

Davis Matney led the Bonnies throughout the weekend, picking up a 6-4, 6-0 singles win over Morgan State's Ilya Maltsev. Matney also scored a trio of doubles victories, pairing up with freshman teammate Salvador Rallin for wins over Adavait Mantri and Tauras Mickus of Fairleigh Dickinson, Aaron Gu and Lee Fiorello of Navy, and Shaharyar Saeed and Deniz Okyay of George Mason.

Dilraj Dhillon and Benediktas Verkovskis also earned singles victories over the weekend. Dhillon's win came in 7-5, 7-5 fashion against Fairleigh Dickinson's Asaf Schwartz, while Verkovskis' victory came against Morgan State's Antonio Santos in a 7-6, 6-4 match.

The Bonnies next competition will be Sept. 19-20, as the team heads to West Point for duals with Army.
