The GoBonnies.com Student-Athletes of the Week presented by CPL for the week ending Sept. 20 are men's soccer sophomore Brendan Sheehan and women's golf freshman Caitrin Coyle.
Sheehan has been on a tear as of late for the Bonnies and played an important role in two matches last week.
In a Little Three rivalry contest at Canisius last Tuesday, he netted the game-winning goal in the 60th minute as the Bonnies prevailed, 1-0, in Buffalo. It marked his third goal in two games as he tallied two scores in the previous match at Boston College Sept. 8.
He continued his strong play as the Bonnies registered a thrilling 2-1 win over VCU in the Atlantic 10 opener this past Saturday. Sheehan, a native of Avon Lake, Ohio, handed out assists on both St. Bonaventure goals. He entered this week with a team-best eight points.
Coyle made history for the Bonnies by recording the first birdie in the history of the newly formed Division I women's golf program. Coyle made birdie at the par-4 345-yard 14th, on her third hole of the day in the season-opening Charge at Quail Valley Sept. 14 in Littlestown, Pa.
The Akron, Ohio native was the top-finishing Bonnie in their first event as she carded back-to-back rounds of 85 in the first 36 holes of the fall season.
