RICHMOND, Va. - The St. Bonaventure University women's soccer team dropped an Atlantic 10 road game on Thursday afternoon, 5-0 at VCU inside SportsBacker Stadium.
During the opening 10 minutes, the St. Bonaventure defense faced immediate pressure with four shots from VCU, however a save from Bona freshman goalkeeper Callie Turpin and a couple of blocked shots from the Bonnies backline kept the game scoreless in the early moments.
In the 22nd minute, the Rams were back on the attack and played a ball into the box. A Bonnies defender was then whistled for a foul that resulted in a penalty kick. Jazmin Jackson stepped up for VCU to take the penalty and put the ball in the back of the net to put the hosts up 1-0.
Just three minutes after, the Rams doubled their lead to 2-0 when Shiori Shintaku found the back of the net.
The Bonnies (3-5-1, 0-2 A10) came close to getting one back on the scoreboard when freshman Liana Tata lined up for a free kick from just inside the midfield line. She sent in a long, rainbow kick that nailed the crossbar and ricocheted away to keep the Bonnies scoreless.
The Rams (1-6-3, 1-1) stayed aggressive to try to add a third goal in the first half and in the 41st minute, the ball found a VCU striker in the middle of the box for a shot, however, Turpin made her second save of the game to send the contest to the half with just a two-goal margin.
Out of halftime, the Bonnies defense held with the highlight of the first 10 minutes being a punch away save by Turpin after a powerful Rams shot. Turpin finished the game with five saves.
The Rams tripled their lead to 3-0 in the 69th minute after a goal from Monique McEnhimer. She added a second goal just three minutes later to extend the lead to 4-0. VCU tallied a fifth goal in the 76th minute that would end the scoring for the game.

St. Bonaventure will look to rebound on Sunday as the Bonnies stay on the road for more A10 action against Richmond at 2 p.m.
