DAVIDSON, N.C. – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team dropped an Atlantic 10 matchup on the road at Davidson Saturday evening, 1-0.
The Bonnies were on the attack early as Neshawn Sutherland forced Davidson goalkeeper Lucas Beltran to make a save in the fifth minute before Jack Steel's shot in the sixth minute sailed just high of the net.
The Wildcats were awarded a penalty kick in the 25th minute following a review. Winston Jory, however, was able to make the save and then pounce on the rebound opportunity, keeping the game scoreless.
In the 34th minute, Davidson was given a free kick on the right side of the box. Arden Tobalski's cross was played far post to Noah Lauzon who volleyed home the eventual game-winning goal.
The Wildcats looked to double their lead just a minute later off the counter attack but Jory was able to make the save in an one-on-one situation.
Bona's put the pressure on early in the second half, looking for the equalizer.
Manex Landa was played through by Sutherland in the 50th minute, but his shot was knocked away by Beltran.
Just two minutes later, Kyle Macfarlane's shot through traffic forced Beltran to make another save before Sutherland's chance in the 57th minute was just wide of the net.
One of the Bonnies best chances of the night came in the 69th minute when Yaseen Khaled crossed in a ball to Ryan Holt, but his header bounced off the back of a defender and out of danger.
The Bonnies were forced to play the final 20 minutes of Saturday's contest following a red card.
Davidson kept the pressure on the shorthanded Bonnies, forcing Jory to make a diving save in the 73rd minute.
The Bonnies generated five shots in the second half but were unable to come away with the equalizer.
Sutherland finished with a team-high four shots while Jory made six saves for the Brown and White.

The Bonnies return home to host Fordham Saturday, Oct. 3. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Marra Athletics Complex.
