NEWTON, Mass. – Brendan Sheehan netted the first two goals of his career, helping the St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team to a 2-2 draw on the road at Boston College Tuesday evening.
Tuesday's draw marks the first result against a Power 4 school since the Bonnies tied Penn State, 1-1, in double overtime on the road Sept. 27, 2005.
Following a pair of blocked shots in the opening 15 minutes, the Bonnies broke through in the 28th minute when Alistair McFall played a curling pass to Brendan Sheehan, who flicked his shot around the goalkeeper for his first score of the game.
For McFall, it marked the first point of his collegiate career.
Bona's would take the lead into the locker room at halftime.
Coming out of the break, Boston College put the pressure on the Bonnies' defense as Winston Jory was forced to make a pair of saves in the 51st and 52nd minutes.
The Eagles, however, found the back of the net when Christian Bejar sent a low ball to the foot of Michael Asare, who scored in the 59th minute.
The Bonnies looked to retake the lead as Ryan Holt had a chance on net in the 62nd minute, but his shot sailed wide of the net.
Kyle Macfarlane stood over a free kick in the 68th minute, sending a ball into the box where Sheehan slid in to punch home his second goal of the game and give the Bonnies a 2-1 lead.
Boston College was quick to tie the game when Bryan Toro fired a shot off a free kick in the 71st minute.
McFall looked to send the Bonnies home winners in the 83rd minute with a shot from outside the box, but his chance bounced off the post and out of play.
Holt finished the game with two shots, while Neshawn Sutherland also logged a chance.
Jory stopped three shots in net for the Brown and White.
