A 2007 graduate of St. Bonaventure, the 2024-25 season is Matt Pappano's 17th year under head coach Mark Schmidt as the Director of Basketball Operations.

In addition to day-to-day administrative responsibilities, Pappano also assists players with academic responsibilities, coordinates scouting and film preparation, handles the scheduling of non-conference opponents, arranges team travel, serves as the team’s liaison to adidas, manages the student assistant staff and assists with donor stewardship and alumni relations.

With Pappano's help, St. Bonaventure has become a consistent winner in the Atlantic 10. The program has reached double-digit Atlantic 10 victories in eight straight years, the longest active streak in the conference, while reaching the NCAA Tournament three times (2012, 2018, 2021) and the NIT twice (2016, 2022).

Pappano served as the Assistant Sports Information Director at his alma mater during the 2007-08 year. Pappano’s primary responsibility came as the media contact for the women’s basketball program, while he also oversaw the publication efforts of seven other sports.

In the summer of 2007, Pappano served as the assistant camp director for the Mark Schmidt Basketball School prior to his arrival in the Sports Information Office. His responsibilities included scheduling, promotions, finances and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the four session camp.

No stranger to St. Bonaventure basketball, Pappano served as the Head Student Assistant for the men’s basketball program throughout his four years at the school. During his stint on the Bonnies’ staff, Pappano assisted in multiple facets within the program, including video production, scouting, travel and practice and game preparation.

A native of Grand Island, N.Y., Pappano graduated from St. Bonaventure in 2007 with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism/mass communication.
