The Short Story:
Two overtimes were not enough to decide a winner as St. Bonaventure and Robert Morris played to a 0-0 tie on Sunday afternoon.

Christina Sarokon was superb in goal for the Bonnies, credited with seven saves in her third shutout of the season. Her best save came after a handball by the Bonnies in their box gave Robert Morris a penalty kick in the 63rd minute. Kristie Hamilton's shot toward the top right corner was turned away by Sarokon.

St. Bonaventure had several golden chances to score. The Bonnies nearly scored the game-winner in the 94th minute when Lauren Hill's shot from 10 yards was true, but deflected out of play for a corner. On the ensuing corner kick, Gabriella Balseca put a header on net, but RMU keeper Becky Schoenecker was there for the save.

Hill had the Bonnies' best chance in the overtime when she got a failed clearing pass and broke in alone on Schoenecker. The Colonial keeper charged off her line and made a save with her right leg.

Inside The Stats / Game Notes:

  • The Bonnies controlled play over the first 15 minutes, but couldn't generate chances inside 20 yards.
  • The second half and overtime were very even. The Bonnies had chances from free kicks and set pieces.
  • In the 36th minute, Colonial Kristie Hamilton beat her defender along the endline and sent a cross to the middle of the box where Gabrielle Corrente had her shot stopped from 10-yards out by Sarokon.
  • St. Bonaventure had a good opportunity in the 61st minute when a loose ball in the box was knocked high in to the air where Reilly Dougherty headed it toward net, but a Colonial defender was there to volley it away.
  • Lauren Hill and Brittany Charles each took three shots.
  • All-Conference senior forward Molly Curry missed her fifth consecutive game with a leg injury.
  • Three yellow cards were issued to Robert Morris players in the game, while Hill had one called on her.

Next Up: The Bonnies will play in the Cornell Tournament next weekend. Their opening opponent is Temple on Friday, Sept. 12, at 4:00.
