ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - A balanced scoring attack helped the St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team extend its undefeated mark to 9-0 with a 15-12 victory over La Salle Sunday afternoon at McGraw-Jennings Field.

The win ties the program's longest win steak of 10 in 2003 and moves the Bonnies to 2-0 in conference play. With Johns Hopkins' 14-11 loss to Maryland today (4/9), St. Bonaventure is now the only remaining undefeated team in Division 1.

Four different players recorded a hat trick for the A-10's top offense. Senior Nicole Motondo led the way with four scores, followed by three from classmate Sarah Dressler, junior Katie Hurley and freshman Katelyn Faas.

St. Bonaventure took a 3-1 in the first eight minutes of action. Faas got things started at the 26:25 mark and Motondo and Dressler followed with a pair of free position scores.

With the score tied at three, the brown and white used a 5-2 run over the final 19:47 of the half to take an 8-5 lead into the break. Motondo capped her hat trick with a pair of goals during the spurt. Faas, Hurley and freshman Keri Vito notched the other goals.

The Bona attack stayed hot early the second half, tallying five straight goals to extend the run to 10-2, for its largest lead of the game (8), at 13-5. Both Hurley and Faas completed their hat tricks to record three of the five scores. Dressler scored her second goal and junior Robin Mason notched her first to round out the scoring.

Following a team timeout, the Explorers came alive using a 5-1 run to pull within four, 14-10, with 6:18 remaining. Dressler put end to the Explorer charge with a free position score for her third goal of the game with just 2:38 left.

The Bonnies outshot the Explorers 32-24 and held a 17-12 advantage in draw controls.

Sophomore goalie Eboni Preston turned away eight shots to improve her record to 5-0 in the cage.

St. Bonaventure will hit the road on Wednesday for non-conference game at LeMoyne. Draw time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
