Lacrosse falls at Delaware, 15-8

NEWARK, Del. - A 6-0 Delaware run midway through the first half proved to be the difference as St. Bonaventure fell 15-8 on Wednesday afternoon at Rullo Stadium.

Casey McGrudden led the Blue Hens with six goals as they improved to 2-3 on the season. The loss is the Bonnies second in a row as they fall to 1-3.

With the scored tied 2-2, St. Bonaventure endured a 20-minute scoreless drought as the Blue Hens took control of the game with a 6-0 run.

Delaware took a 10-5 lead into the locker room and outscored the Bonnies 5-3 in the second half.

Junior Kim Ross, sophomores Katelyn Faas and Keri Vito and freshman Molly Hastrich each had two goals to account for all of the Bonaventure scoring. Junior Brenna Houghton had a season-high four assists.

Delaware outshot the Brown and White 34-22, including 21-10 in the first half. The Bonnies committed a season-high 28 turnovers and converted on just 15-of-26 clear attempts.

Junior Eboni Preston started in goal and made six saves before giving way to freshman Tori Waheibi in the second half.

St. Bonaventure will host Ohio St. on Sunday at noon. The game will be played at Merrill Field on the campus of Alfred University.
