Women's Lacrosse Travels To Richmond For Weekend A-10 Matchup

ST. BONAVENTURE (7-5, 3-1 A-10) at RICHMOND (7-2, 4-0 A-10)
Saturday, March 28 – 11 a.m.
Richmond, Va.

OPENING DRAW
The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team takes a two-game winning streak into Virginia this weekend as the Bonnies take on preseason A-10 favorite Richmond. While the Bonnies stand 3-1 in league play so far, the Spiders are a perfect 4-0.

LAST TIME OUT
St. Bonaventure started fast and withstood a rally effort from Rhode Island to defeat the Rams on the road, 12-8, last Saturday. Brooke Piper scored three goals while Gracie Williams (2G-1A), Kierstin Hillis (1G-2A) and Riley Milligan (3A) all had three points apiece. Judy Mahoney made 10 saves to pick up the win in the cage.

MORE HONORS FOR PIPER
It was a history-making week for Brooke Piper as the senior broke the Bonnies school record for career goals when she tallied her 155th in last Wednesday's win over Duquesne. It was the first of 10 goals in two games last week as she also posted 12 total points and nine draw controls to be named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

IN THE RANKINGS
Piper is part of one of the most accomplished senior classes in Bonnies program history. While she now owns the school record for career goals, she also is approaching another career milestone with 195 total points during her time with the Bonnies. She stands tied with Christine Hanley '11 in points entering this weekend after breaking Hanley's goals record which had stood for 15 years. Only two Bonnies have ever surpassed 200 points: Kelly Chevez '05 (240) and Fiona McGovern '25 (218).

Piper currently slots second among all Atlantic 10 players this season with 41 goals on the year, a total that is also fifth nationally. For her career, her 164 total tallies are 10th among all active Division I players.

Classmate Brit Colangelo continues to leave her mark as one of the best defensive players in Bona's history as well. With her three caused turnovers in Saturday's win, she now has 121 for her career which moves into second-place in the Bona record books, passing the 120 of Kathryn Yoder '19. Only Emily Lilyea '03 tallied more in a Bona uniform (139). Colangelo's 158 groundballs also stand fifth in school history.

This season, Colangelo leads all A-10 players by a wide margin in CT as her 28 are eight more than any other A-10 player. She ranks third among all active D-I players in career caused turnovers and sixth in groundballs.

Grace Hollenbeck also reached 100 career points last week while her 36 total assists stand 14th in the program record book, tied with teammate Rylee Gonzalez who also surpassed 100 career points earlier this season.

As for the underclassmen, sophomore goalie Judy Mahoney is making waves in the A-10 ranks as well this season. She leads the Atlantic 10 in both goals against average (7.87) and save percentage (.494) while ranking ninth and 14th respectively in those categories among all goalies nationally.

DOMINATING THE DRAW
St. Bonaventure owns a 152-99 advantage in draw controls this season, thanks in large part to seniors Megan Schillinger and Brooke Piper.

Schillinger currently ranks third in the A-10 with 61 draw controls this year while Piper is sixth (49).

The duo is 1-2 in school history with Schillinger's 282 draw controls standing 15th among all active D-I players.

STOCK RISING
Two Bonnies underclassmen have shown steady improvement on attack this season. Freshman Gracie Williams and redshirt freshman Brooke Sumner are breakout successes for the Bonnies, with Williams enjoying a career day last Saturday to put her at 10 points for the year.

Sumner, who missed all of last year due to a knee injury, made her collegiate debut just over a week ago. She tallied multiple points in each of last week's games as she scored three points in the win over Duquesne (2G-1A) before netting two more goals in the victory at Rhode Island.

ABOUT RICHMOND
  • The Spiders are coached by Anne Harrington in her 10th overall season with the program. After spending six years as an assistant coach and being named the interim head coach in 2022, this is Harrington's fourth season as the full-time head coach.
  • Throughout Harrington's time with the program, the team has gone 51-9 in Atlantic 10 play, winning four regular season conference titles and making four NCAA Tournament appearances. After an 11-8 campaign in 2025 highlighted by a first-round win over the Bonnies in the conference tournament, the Spiders were selected first in the A-10 Preseason Coaches Poll this season.
  • This season, Richmond has a 7-2 record headlined by a marquee win over #12/15 Virginia, 12-11. The team is unblemished in conference play with four straight wins over VCU, Rhode Island, George Mason and Saint Joseph's. The Spiders have also played two other ranked opponents to one-goal decisions, losing to #24 Penn State to open the season, 10-9, before falling to #23 Duke two weeks later, 15-14.
  • Richmond as a team ranks first in the A-10 in average assists (8.89), draw controls (15.78), points (23.33) and goals (14.44) per game. Junior attacker Meghan Rode leads the conference with 9.22 draw controls per game.
  • Senior attacker Alexis Morton leads the team and sits third in the A-10 with 51 points (28G-23A).
  • Junior goalkeeper Abby Francoli has started all nine games for the Spiders and has made 60 total saves with a 7-2 goalie record.
