Game One Box Score | Game Two Box Score

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure softball team dropped both games of its Atlantic 10 doubleheader against Charlotte on Sunday afternoon at McGraw-Jennings Field.

Kristen Bowen fired a one-hit shutout in game one to lead the 49ers to a 5-0 win, while Cee Brooks had five RBI during a 6-3 win in game two.

St. Bonaventure is now 16-16 on the season and 4-7 in the Atlantic 10 with four conference games to go. Charlotte improves to 28-21 and 6-7 in league play.

In the opener, the 49ers plated at least one run in four innings off of freshman starter Sherri Thompson. On the flip side, Bowen kept the Bona bats at bay all game until junior Kirstin Strong broke up the no-hit bid with a double in the seventh inning.

Thompson had her 37-inning earned run streak snapped in the first inning as she fell to 6-9 on the season. Bowen finished with 11 strikeouts as she upped her season mark to 12-11.

Junior Brianna Bricker got the Bonnies on the board early in game two with a leadoff home run over the centerfield wall in the first inning.

The Bonnies use the long ball again in the third to lengthen their lead to 3-0. Bricker worked a leadoff walk and came around to score on Strong's two-run blast into left field - her second home run of the season.

Keyed by a two-run double from Brooks, Charlotte knotted the score at 3-3 with three runs in the top of the fourth.

Senior Christine Keleher found herself in some more trouble in the top of the seventh after issuing a pair of walks to open the inning. With two on and one out Brooks delivered her second big hit of the game, this time a game-winning three-run home run to give the 49ers a 6-3 lead.

The Bonnies went down in order in the bottom of the seventh.

Keleher went the distance on the hill, allowing nine hits and four walks.

Strong had three of the four hits on the day for the Bonnies. She went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and two RBI.

St. Bonaventure will return to action on Friday against Saint Joseph's.
