NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -
Eight different players found the back of the net as the St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team used 13 first half goals en route to a convincing 18-5 non-conference win over Niagara on Wednesday afternoon.
The win gives the Bonnies their first win streak of the season heading into this weekend's crucial A-10 contest against Duquesne. Draw time against the Dukes is set for 4 p.m. on Friday at McGraw-Jennings Field.
Senior Kimberly Ross exploded for eight points on three goals and a career-high five assists to headline career days had by several players. Junior Keri Vito scored a game and career-high four goals, while Brenna Houghton notched her fifth hat trick of the season. Sophomore Patty Nessle added three first half scores and an assist and senior Stephanie Jordan rounded out the two-goal scorers with a pair of first half tallies.
St. Bonaventure took control of the game from the outset with the first seven goals and six of the final seven of the opening frame for a commanding 13-2 edge at the half.
Both Ross and Nessle accumulated their hat tricks in the first half, while Vito and Houghton each had two.
Senior Eboni Preston made her 45th career start in net and lasted 17 minutes in cage before giving way to sophomore Tori Waheibi. Preston's short-stay in cage was long enough to earn her the win. Waheibi played just over 42 minutes, making a career-best eight saves.
Senior Megan Murphy, sophomore Ashley Fischer and freshman Jill Remick also scored goals on the day.
