The 49ers picked up their two runs of the game in the top of the third inning. Senior Jenny Rumbles started the frame with a leadoff walk. After Rumbles advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, she came all the way around to score when Thompson committed a throwing error. Junior Serena Smith came up next and smacked a double to left field to plate sophomore Whitney Williams, to make the score 2-0.
The Bonnies would get a run back in the bottom of the fifth when freshman Brooke Frey hit a towering homerun over the left field fence to make the score 2-1 Charlotte. Jeffery would shut the door on St. Bonaventure in its final two at bats, allowing only one more hit the rest of the way.
The second game would be a game of streaks scoring runs for both teams. The Brown and White would score four runs in the first inning off 49ers starter Erin Buchan. Senior Ashley Kotz would deliver the big hit in the frame hitting a three-run double to make the score 4-0 St. Bonaventure.
The Bonnies would lead 5-1 going into the fifth inning, marking the starting point of Charlotte's scoring run. The 49ers would score two runs against Thompson, who started game two as well, in the fifth and sixth innings to make the score 5-5. Freshman Erin Nargi would relieve Thompson, but failed to stop Charlotte's offense who scored two more runs off of her to make the score 7-5.
Jeffery, who came in to replace 49ers starter Buchan in the fourth inning, would shut the Bonnies bats down in the bottom half of the seventh retiring the side in order to pick up her second win of the day.
