ALBANY, N.Y. — Seniors led the way for St. Bonaventure, as Jimmy Burton and Tiffany Barkley finished first on their respective teams at the 44th Annual UAlbany Invitational Saturday.
In the 8k men's race, Burton led the Bonnies for the fourth straight race and recorded a new personal record time of 26:44.7 to place 56th overall among 183 runners. His previous best, set Sept. 25 at the Little Three Championships in Buffalo, N.Y., was 26:47.
Freshman Kyle Wilkinson (29:17.9) was second on the team. Scott Shelters (29:50.3) and Rahkeem Wright (30:13.8) were third and fourth, respectively, with Terence Petty (30:16.4) taking fifth on the team.
Barkley completed the women's 5k course in 21:35.6 to lead the squad for the second straight week. The Mansfield, Texas native was 118th in a 177-runner field. Freshman Christiana Sirni (22:04.0) was second on the team, with Elizabeth Moran (22:16.7) and Kim Fuller (22:17.4) neck-and-neck for third and fourth. Tabitha Slachciak (23:35) rounded out the Bonnies' lineup.
St. Bonaventure was 22nd in both the men's and women's team standings.
The Bonnies return to action Oct. 30 at the Atlantic 10 Championships, hosted by Duquesne, in Pittsburgh, Pa.
