RESULTS: MEN | WOMEN
PITTSBURGH — Jimmy Burton (27:03) posted his fifth straight team-leading effort, freshman Christiana Sirni (21:41) paced the women's team for the first time in her career, and St. Bonaventure ended its first season under head coach Bob Macfarlane at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships at Schenley Park on Saturday.
The University of Richmond made it a clean sweep at the Championship claiming both the men's and women's titles. It marked the first time in school history that the Spiders were victorious on both the men's and women's side at the league championship in the same year.
La Salle placed second in the women's standings with 68 points followed in third by Dayton (75) and in fourth place by Saint Louis (170). Charlotte and Duquesne finished in a tie for fifth with 189 points. Rounding out the rest of race beginning in seventh place was Rhode Island (196), Massachusetts (200), Saint Joseph's (214), Xavier (216), George Washington (276), Fordham (293), Temple (405) and St. Bonaventure (470).Â
Tournament-host Duquesne placed second on the men's side with 63 points, while Massachusetts finished third with 112 points. Dayton and La Salle rounded out the top five with 116 and 133 points, respectively. Finishing sixth through 14th on the men's side was Xavier (147), Saint Joseph's (174), Temple (193), Fordham (223), Charlotte (237), George Washington (325), Saint Louis (352), Rhode Island (383) and St. Bonaventure (455).
Saint Louis' Margo Richardson was named the Rookie of the Year on the women's side finishing ninth in the 5K race in a time of 17:51. Fordham's Michael Belogiovine garnered top Rookie honors on the men's side placing 25th in a time of 25:30.
Richmond's Steve Taylor and Lori Taylor were named the league's Coach of the Year after leading the Spiders to their respective team titles on the men's and women's side Saturday morning.
