CHICAGO — After posting a 3-2 comeback
win over Bucknell in its season opener, the St. Bonaventure women's
soccer team (1-0-0) takes on host DePaul (1-1-0) in its next test
at Wish Field at Cacciatore Stadium at 4 p.m. today.
The Bonnies picked up their win in exciting fashion last
Saturday, using two goals in a four-minute span to overcome a
one-goal deficit for the win. Anna
Cunningham notched the game-winner and had an assist and senior
classmate Courtney
Bosse registered five points on two goals and one assist to
lead the Bonnies. Cunningham, who has 17 career goals and ranks
12th in career scoring, picked up her 20th career assist to move
into a tie for third on the all-time assists list, while Bosse now
ranks 13th on the scoring ledger with 20 goals and 10 helpers.
Sophomore keeper Kathryn Kerman made six saves to help preserve the
win.
On the other side, DePaul opened the season with a 2-0 whitewash
of host Iowa before suffering a 2-1 double overtime loss to
Northwestern on Sunday. The Blue Demons posted their best record
since 2003 last season and are picked to finish sixth in the
eight-team Big East National Division. DePaul returns 10 of 11
starters from last year's squad, including 20-point scorer Tara
Strickland (7g, 6a).
