NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. - Freshman Cara Callahan scored a career-high five goals and Christine Hanley registered six points on four goals and two assists to lead St. Bonaventure (3-3) to a 14-11 victory over Niagara (1-6-1) Tuesday night.
The duo combined for seven of the Bonnies' first 10 goals, helping SBU to a 4-1 cushion on Haley's unassisted tally nine minutes in. The Purple Eagles rallied for three of the game's next four goals over a 4:24 span to make it 5-4 with 14:25 to go in the first.
Callahan and Hanley each scored twice of the remainder of the half to outpace Niagara and earn a 10-6 lead going into the intermission.
Danielle Drabin scored her second goal of the game to open the second frame and Callahan added one of her own - both free-position shots - to give the Bonnies a 12-6 cushion.
Fran Pollastro and Emily French each notched four points on three goals and an assist in the loss. Niagara pulled to within three, 12-9, but insurance goals from Erin Thomas and Callahan preserved the win.
SBU freshman Karly Kocis stopped five shots in the win.
St. Bonaventure opens Atlantic 10 Conference play at George Washington on Friday.
