Lacrosse Plays at GW, Richmond This Weekend

The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team has a packed weekend ahead, facing George Washington on Friday and Richmond on Sunday. 

The Bonnies are coming off a 14-11 victory against Niagara on Tuesday.  Freshman Cara Callahan helped lead the Bonnies with her career-high five goals.  Christine Hanley, who leads the Bonnies with 19 goals this season, had six points on four goals along with two assists against the Purple Eagles. The Bonnies are entering their game with against George Washington with a 3-3 overall record.

George Washington, who now has a 3-7 record, had a tough loss against Johns Hopkins on Saturday. The Colonials had a 5-1 run late in the second half but it wasn't enough to defeat the Blue Jays. Junior Sarah Philips had six points on four goals along with two assists against the Blue Jays which helped claim her honor of A-10 player of the week, the second time in her career.

The Richmond Spiders currently hold a 3-7 overall record and face Duquesne on Friday. The Spiders have not played since March 19, where they had a devastating loss in overtime versus Towson. The Spiders led 8-2 at halftime before Towson rallied  to lead the teams into overtime.  Leading the game for Richmond was Sam Stevenson, who scored four times.

The Bonnies will play George Washington at 4 p.m. Friday at Mount Vernon Field in Washington, D.C. They will continue their play Sunday in Richmond, Va., at noon.
