Richmond Runs Away With Lacrosse Victory

RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond (5-7, 2-0 Atlantic 10) rattled off 10 unanswered goals in the first half to take a commanding 15-1 lead and cruised to a 20-5 win over the St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team (3-5, 0-2) in Atlantic 10 action Sunday.

Gabi Weigand paced the Spiders with nine points on seven goals and two assists while Mary Flowers and Julianne Nicola each had six on two goals and four assists.

Cara Callahan (2g) and Christine Hanley (1g, 1a) paced the Bonnies in the loss.

Lauren Michaels scored off a feed from Hanley at the 25:25 mark of the first half the Bonnies' only goal of the period. Callahan went to goal alone 8:40 into the second half and found the back of the net again on a free position shot after Hanley scored SBU's third goal. Freshman Elspeth McGarry added her second of the season to close out the scoring for St. Bonaventure.

The Bonnies return to action Thursday to host Saint Joseph's in their first home game of the season. The opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
