ALFRED, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team faces another double dose of Atlantic 10 play at Alfred University this weekend as the Bonnies face Saint Joseph's on Friday and UMass on Sunday.
In its last outing at Richmond (5-7, 2-0) - a 20-5 loss to the Spiders - the Bonnies fell to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Cara Callahan scored two goals to go along with the seven she scored in the previous matchup at George Washington allowing her to be named the Conference Rookie of the Week despite the two losses. Callahan now leads the Bonnies with 21 goals and is second on the team with 24 points.
Despite outshooting Temple 14-8 in the first half and holding an 11-8 lead with 20:03 remaining in the game, Saint Joseph's (5-6, 1-1) fell to the Owls 12-11 last Sunday. Junior Meghan McDevitt lead the Hawks with six points on four goals and two assists. St. Bonaventure is the first stop on a three-game road trip for the Hawks.
No. 20 (IWLCA) UMass (9-2, 2-0) will face off with Duquesne on Friday before traveling to western New York to face the Bonnies. After contributing to wins over Temple and La Salle, Freshman Katie Ferris was named A-10 player of the week while Junior Dayna Defliese was named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week. Ferris recorded 6 points in back to back performances finishing the week with 9 goals and 3 assists.
The Bonnies will face Saint Joseph's at 2 p.m. on Friday and UMass at noon on Sunday with both games being played at Alfred University in Alfred, N.Y.
