ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - A week after competing in the UB Stampede Invitational at Beaver Island State Park in Grand Island, both the men's and women's cross country teams return to the Buffalo area Saturday for the Little 3 Invitational.
The meet, hosted by Niagara, will take place at Veterans Memorial Park in Niagara Falls, N.Y. The women's event will begin at 1 p.m., while the men will start at 1:45 p.m. As is tradition, the Bonnies will face Niagara and Canisius.
For the second consecutive meet, the Bonnies were paced by a pair of freshman – Nick Masiello on the men's side and Hannah Robinson on the women's side.
Masiello ran a time of 26:46.5 in the Stampede Invitational, good enough for 22nd overall. Fellow freshman Steve Kibbe finished 39th with a time of 27:52.4, while first-year runner Harley Thompson finished 43rd with a time of 28:26.1. It marked the second week in a row in which four of the Bonnies' top five runners were freshman, as the Brown and White finished fifth overall.
On the women's side, Robinson finished 12th of 57 runners with a time of 19:41. St. Bonaventure's top five runners were all freshman, as Emily Steves (19:44, 15th), Sarah Mars (19:45, 16th), Morgan Mayo (21:05, 31st) and Elizabeth Dickinson (21:08, 32nd) helped the Bonnies finish fourth of five teams overall.
After the Little 3 Invitational, the Bonnies return to action next Friday in Bethlehem, Pa. for Lehigh's Paul Short Run presented by Brooks.
