Bonnies take on conference rivals

GENEVA, OHIO - The St. Bonaventure women's swimming and diving team returns to the pool on Nov 3 for its first conference meet and competition swim in the Spire Institute Quad meet featuring the Bonnies, Duquesne, LaSalle, Xavier and Butler.

The meet will be held at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The diving portion of the meet begins at 9:30 a.m. and the swimming will start at 2:00 p.m. The Spire Institute will be where this seasons Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships will be held.

The Bonnies hope to rally from last year's tri-meet where they defeated Duquesne, 174-147, and fell to La Salle, 184-149.

In that meet, Aly Paz, Jeanette Dietrich and Lauren Caldwell (pictured) all had third place finishes for the Bonnies. Paz touched in at 18:09.95 in the 1650-yard freestyle. Dietrich had a time of 25.04 in the 50-yard freestyle. Caldwell came in with a time of 2:12.17 in the 200-yard IM. Caldwell also clinched a second-place finish for the team, coming in at 2:08.47 in the 200-yard butterfly.

Duquesne is coming off of a loss to both Central Connecticut State (153.5-108.5) and St. Francis (Pa.) with a score of 167-95 on Oct. 27. LaSalle recently lost to Villanova at Villanova (110-180) on Oct. 24. Xavier is coming off of a 79-32 win over Bellarmine in Cincinnati, Ohio on Oct. 26. Butler faced IUPUI and Eastern Illinois on Oct. 19. The Bulldogs will swim against former league opponent Youngstown State the day after they swim at the quad-meet.

The Bonnies triumphed over the Canisius Griffins this past weekend on Oct. 26 with a score of 145.5-88.5. In doing this, the Bonnies broke six Koessler Athletic Center Pool records.
They broke records of the 400-yard freestyle relay, the
400-yard medley relay,
1,000-yard freestyle (Erin Cervone),
200-yard backstroke (Adelyn Graf),
200-yard breaststroke (McKenzie Courtney) and
200-yard butterfly (Elizabeth Malone).

Sophomore Jeanette Dietrich posted two first-place finishes for the Bonnies. She touched in at 1:56.44 in the 200-yard freestyle and came in at 54.91 in the 100-yard freestyle.

The Bonnies return to the pool on Nov 10 to host their first home meet of the season against Cleveland State. The meet will begin at 1 p.m.
