ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y.- Both the St. Bonaventure's tennis team competed last weekend at the St. Bonaventure Indoor Tennis Courts with each team earning victories.
On Saturday, the women's team defeated Youngstown State 5-2, winning two of three doubles matches and four of six singles matches. On Sunday, they knocked of Slippery Rock also by a 5-2 score, winning all three doubles matches and four of six singles matches. Following the weekend's victories, freshman Marissa Brossard leads the team with six singles victories. The doubles teams of Brossard and senior Manuela Marin-Salcedo and juniors Riley Archer and Kathryn Kvas share a team high with four wins each.
The men's team lost to Youngstown State 5-2 on Saturday, losing two of three doubles matches and four of six singles matches. The team rebounded against RIT on Sunday with a 7-0 win consisting of three doubles wins and seven singles wins. Sophomores Elliot Fanshel and Javier Ortiz and juniors Luis Guevara and Oscar Yanez lead the team with five wins each. Fanshel and Guevara as a team share the lead with four doubles victories with Yanez and freshman Miguel Suarez.
The men's team will be in Pittsburgh this Saturday to open their Atlantic 10 Conference schedule at Duquesne. Following a week off from matches, the women's team travels to West Point to take on Army Saturday, Feb. 18 and A-10 Conference rival Fordham Sunday, Feb. 19.
