Temple Defeats Women's Lacrosse in Conference Opener

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure (2-3, 0-1 Atlantic 10) pulled to within one after three early goals but scored just twice over the remainder of the game as Temple (7-3, 1-0) netted goal streaks of 4-0 and 7-0 en route to a 16-4 win over the Bonnies at McGraw-Jennings Field on Friday.

The Owls capitalized early for a three-goal lead 4:48 into the game. Danielle Drabin found Lauren Michaels for the Bonnies first goal before connecting on a free position shot 52 seconds later to pull Bona within one, 3-2.

Drabin's goal and assist marked the only multi-point outing for SBU, as Temple responded with four unanswered goals to build a cushion and take control.

Marybeth Madia finished a pass from Emily Kane to make it 7-3 with 8:40 to go in the half, but the Owls ran off seven more goals over the rest of the period and into the second to put it out of reach.

Carly Cohen netted five goals and assisted twice to lead the Owls.

St. Bonaventure travels to La Salle on Sunday for another Atlantic 10 Conference game.
