ST. BONAVENTURE - The St. Bonaventure lacrosse team begins the 2012 season with a game at Big
4 rival Niagara Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Niagara Field.
The Bonnies hope to build on last season's 6-9 record including a 2-5 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference
games. In Septemeber, the university named Ryan Lynn as head women's lacrosse coach. A 2004
graduate of the University at Buffalo and a 2008 graduate of Buffalo State, Lynn previously coached as
an assistant at Buffalo State from 2006-2009. The past two seasons, he served as defensive coordinator
at Le Moyne, who reached the NCAA Championship Semifinals and allowed 5.06 per game last year.
The Brown and White return 22 upperclassmen and welcome six freshmen to the program. Senior
attacker Emily Kane lead the team in scoring last season with a team-high 34 assists and 19 goals for a
total of 53 points. Sophomore midfielder Cara Callahan scored 38 goals in 2011, tied for a team high
with Christine Hanley, who is now the team's assistant coach. Sophomore goalie Karly Kocis returns to
the net in 2012 after posting a 5-9 record in 14 starts with a .424 save percentage and a 14.34 goals
against average last season.
Niagara, members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, enter Wednesday's contest with a 0-2
record following a 20-13 loss at Sacred Heart on Friday. Wednesday's game will be the Purple Eagles'
home opener.
Following the Niagara game, St. Bonaventure will travel to Michigan to face Detriot Mercy Sunday at 1
p.m. The Bonnies' home opener will take place Monday, March 19 at 3 p.m. at McGraw-Jennings
Field against Ohio State.
