NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's tennis team (11-8) completed its regular season with a 5-2 win over Niagara (5-12) on Wednesday afternoon at the SportsPlex.
Freshman Fatya Amiri, the reigning Atlantic 10 Women's Performer of the Week, continued her hot play as she once again picked up a pair of wins, claiming victories in both her singles and doubles matches to lead the Bona charge.
The California native started her afternoon by partnering with senior Manuela Marin Salcedo to post an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. She then grabbed a victory at No. 2 singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, over Ashley Ta.
Amiri and Marin-Salcedo were part of a clean sweep by the SBU doubles teams, as all three groups won their matches by 8-3 margins. Playing at No. 1 doubles, junior Amanda Pallikunnel teamed up with freshman Marissa Brossard, while junior Kathryn Kvas and sophomore Andrea Pavlovic helped complete the sweep by playing out of the No. 3 position.
In singles action, Brossard (6-1, 6-4), Kvas (6-1, 6-0) and Pavlovic (6-1, 6-3) all claimed dominant wins, playing out of the No. 3, 5 and 6 positions, respectively.
The Bonnies return to the court at next week's A-10 Championship at The Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va. The seeds will be announced early next week prior to competition beginning on Thursday, April 19.
