VESTAL, N.Y. – Playing its final non-conference games of the regular season, the St. Bonaventure softball team (17-23) was swept at Binghamton (18-27) by scores of 4-1 and 4-0 Tuesday afternoon at East Gym Field.
Junior Hali Enderby (pictured) was responsible for Bonaventure's lone run over the two games by virtue of a 7th-inning home run to center field in the first contest. The round-tripper was just the second of her season and sixth in the Horseheads, N.Y. native's career.
Enderby also added a hit in second contest as the center fielder was responsible a quarter of SBU's eight hits over the two games.
Senior Brooke Frey went 1-for-3 out of the leadoff spot, while sophomore Ashley Snider and third baseman Grace Rooney added the other three SBU hits in the opening battle. In game two, Lauren Waite, Danielle Frye and Lindsay Stowell contributed hits.
In game one, the Bearcats scored a run in the 3rd, another in the 5th and tacked on two more before Enderby's home run in the 7th.
Bona's best chance to score before Enderby's homer came in the 4th inning when Frey was throw out at home trying to score on Snider's single.
Jen Sansano (11-10) took the loss in the circle as she tossed all six innings in allowing seven hits and four earned runs, striking out two and walking two.
In game two, freshman Julia Pratt (0-2) made just her second start of the campaign and scattered seven hits over her 4.1 innings, allowing two earned runs.
The Bearcats scored in three straight innings to pull away from the Bonnies as they tallied a run each in the 4th and 5th before adding two insurance tallies in the 6th.
St. Bonaventure returns to action on Friday as it begins its final regular-season weekend with a game against Saint Joseph's. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. before the second game of the series takes place on Saturday at Noon. The Bonnies conclude the regular season with a doubleheader on Sunday against Temple beginning at Noon.
