Kvas, Cole Key Women's Tennis Victory Over Robert Morris

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure's Kathryn Kvas (pictured) and Taylor Cole teamed for a doubles victory and the two also chipped in singles wins to contribute to the Bonnies' 4-3 women's tennis victory over Robert Morris on Friday afternoon at the SBU Fitness Center.

St. Bonaventure improved to 1-1 on the spring season while Robert Morris fell to 0-5.

Playing out of the second position, Kvas and Cole registered their second doubles victory of the season with an 8-3 triumph. The duo continued their success in singles competition, as Kvas topped Clarissa Chen, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3 singles and Cole followed with a 7-5, 6-2 defeat of Marie-Sophie Heine at No. 4. For both St. Bonaventure players, those victories were their third of the year.
 
The Bona sophomore tandem of Fatya Amiri and Marissa Brossard bounced back from an 8-7 (1) No. 1 doubles defeat with singles victories. At first singles, Amiri bested Carolina Mourao Teixeira, 6-0, 6-1, while Brossard prevailed, 6-1, 6-1, over Samantha Alves at No. 2. For Brossard, the win was her team-leading sixth of the season.

In other matches, the Bonnies' third doubles team of Riley Archer and Jillian Hammell was defeated, 8-2. Both Archer and Hammell also lost their singles matches in straight sets.

The Bonnies host Slippery Rock Saturday before traveling to face Pittsburgh at 1 p.m. Sunday.
