ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure lacrosse team (3-1) looks to continue their winning ways against Siena (1-5) Saturday afternoon at Corning Memorial Stadium. The Bonnies had an electrifying start to their season with a 3-0 record.
The team headed North to face their Little 3 rival Niagara on Tuesday (March 12) and got handed their first loss of the season (9-7). Less than ten minutes into the first half the scoring picked up by both teams, leaving the game close. Jenna Schlagenhauf helped keep the score at bay until Niagara took the lead with 11:56 to play.
Schlagenhauf gave the Bonnies a one goal lead with 1:01 to play in the game but, tired legs did the Bonnies in as Niagara scored three goals over the final 43 seconds to claim its first victory in series history.
Siena will travel to Corning Memorial Stadium recovering from 12-5 loss against Monmouth last Saturday. Siena was outscored in the first half 7-1, scoreless for the first 26 minutes of the game. Freshman Lauren Smith finally gave them their first goal with 4:06 left in the half.
