WASHINGTON, D.C. – The St. Bonaventure lacrosse team (5-8, 0-4) fell to George Washington (8-5, 3-1), 19-7, on the road in A-10 action on Friday. A pair of 5-0 runs in the first half put the Bonnies away in this one. The loss is the thirteenth straight for the Brown and White against A-10 opponents.
Erin Thomas paced the offense in the early going, scoring each of the first two goals for the Bonnies. Trailing the Brown and White 2-1, George Washington commenced on a 5-0 run that would be halted by Jenna Schlagenhauf scoring her 30th goal of the season.
The Colonials would not allow the Bonnies to start a comeback however as they scored five in a row once again. Schlagenhauf and Carrie Kubasta each scored for St. Bonaventure late in the half to give G.W. an 11-5 lead at the break.
Schlagenhauf added her third goal of the game and 32nd of the season in the second half but G.W. held the Bonnies to just a pair of scores in second stanza and pulled away to secure the 19-7 victory.
St. Bonaventure has been outscored 103-30 during their six-game losing streak and is still in search of its first win over an A-10 foe since April 15, 2011.
With her 30th goal, Schlagenhauf became just the 27th player in program history to score at least 30 goals in a single season.
St. Bonaventure will be back in action on Sunday (Apr. 14) at Richmond. Face off is currently set for 12:00 p.m.
