RICHMOND, VA. – The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team (5-9, 0-5) fell Sunday afternoon at the hands of the Richmond Spiders, 22-8, after falling behind early. The Bonnies surrendered more games today than they had in any other game this season.
Richmond kicked off the game with a pair of scores by Bailey Zerr. Marybeth Madia ended the 3-0 start for the Spiders with a goal but the Richmond responded with two more.
Trailing 10-5 with 10:30 to play, following a 3-2 run, the Bonnies had their momentum stolen away by a Richmond 9-0 run that spanned two halves. Now leading 19-5, the Spiders were able to coast home for the 22-8 victory.
Jenna Schlagenhauf scored twice more today to add to her team-leading 34 goals. Taylor Ventre, Mackenzie Jordan, Marybeth Madia, Erin Thomas, Lauren Michaels and Mikayla Place each added one goal.
The Bonnies have now lost seven in a row and 14-straight overall against Atlantic 10 competition. Their last A-10 victory came in April of 2011.
The Brown and White will be back in action on Wednesday (Apr. 17) when they welcome Detroit Mercy to McGraw-Jennings field for a 4:00 p.m. face off. A-10 play for the Bonnies will resume on Friday (Apr. 19) when No. 13 UMass visits campus for a 1:00 p.m. scheduled start.
