ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Sophomore Marissa Brossard posted the St. Bonaventure's women's tennis team's only victory in its 6-1 loss to Niagara on Monday at the SBU Fitness Center.
Brossard bested Sarah Hellstern, 6-3, 6-1, at second singles to improve to 12-13 on the year. Those 12 individual victories lead the Bonnies.
Niagara won the remaining four contested singles matches in straight sets and collected a forfeit win at sixth singles.
SBU's doubles teams of Brossard and classmate Fatya Amiri and seniors Kathryn Kvas and Riley Archer fell 8-5 and 8-2, respectively. The Bonnies also forfeited the third doubles match.
The Bonnies dropped to 3-15 on the year, while the Purple Eagles have won eight of their last nine matches and improved to 12-5.
St. Bonaventure finishes its regular season at home against Xavier at 11 a.m. Saturday before competing in the Atlantic 10 Championships April 18-21 in Charlottesville, Va.
