The Short Story:
In a thriller at the Marra Athletics Complex, the St. Bonaventure women's soccer team pulled away with a 3-2 victory against the Cornell Big Red off a 89th minute goal from Abby Mailello.

The Bonnies netted the first goal of the game in just the 12th minute as Stephanie Jenkins took the ball to the left side of the net and played it into the box. The junior forward, Lauren Hill, received the header and placed the ball in the left corner.

In the second half, the game turned into a back and forth match as each team would trade goals, twice. The Big Red notched their first goal of the night in the 52nd minute off a scramble in front of the net as Kerry Schubert slid and knocked the ball into the lower left corner. Less than five minutes later, St. Bonaventure's Abby Maiello collected the long pass from Jennifer Morris and beat the Cornell goalkeeper from 10 yards out. The Big Red tied the game up at two apiece in the 62nd minute off a shot from Claire Macmanus that bounced off the SBU keeper and Kerry Schubert finished for her second goal of the game. The Bonnies closed out the game in the 89th minute off a free-kick from Jennifer Morris that was headed by Lauren Hill on the right side of the goal, back towards the middle of the net and found Maiello to chest the ball for the game-winning goal.

The freshman goalkeeper, Beth Moore, tallied her first collegiate victory. Moore finished the game with five saves. The native of Akron, Ohio is now 1-1 on the year.
