AMHERST, Mass. – St. Bonaventure lost 21-8 at Atlantic 10-leading UMass on Friday afternoon.
Mary Maestri gave the Bonnies an early lead when she scored the first goal of the game, but UMass scored the next 13 goals to take control. The Minutewomen, who are ranked No. 11 in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association poll, led 15-3 at halftime.
St. Bonaventure remains winless on the season despite sophomore midfielder LeighAnn Stauffer scoring five goals on Friday. She now has a team-leading 31 goals this season. Taylor Fallon and Gabrielle Bradley scored the other St. Bonaventure goals.
Katie Ferris, Sam Rush and Ellie Bullitt each scored three goals for the Minutewomen. UMass out-shot the Bonnies 32-12 and had a 22-9 advantage in draw controls.
Bonnies goalie Sara Schlagenhauf recorded 11 saves.
The Bonnies will close their season on Sunday when they host Richmond at noon at McGraw-Jennings Field. Seniors Schlagenhauf and Lily Timlin will be honored prior to the game.
