ALFRED, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure lost 18-10 to George Washington in Atlantic 10 Conference women's lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon at Alfred University's Merrill Field.
GW dominated the first half. After Lily Timlin put the Bonnies on the board first, the Colonials scored eight answered goals. Rachel Mia's tally at the 12:58 mark made it 8-1. While LeighAnn Stauffer scored three goals for St. Bonaventure in a span of just over five minutes, GW tacked on four more goals before the break and led 12-4 at halftime.
St. Bonaventure rallied after the break. Following a goal by Rachel Bumgardner to make it 13-4, Mikayla Place, Taylor Fallon and Mary Maestri scored consecutive goals that pulled the Bonnies within 13-7. The Bonnies were not able to come any closer than six goals, though.
Stauffer led the Bonnies with four goals while Place tallied three. Bonnies goalie Sarah Schlagenhauf made 10 saves.
Mia led George Washington with five goals while Bumgardner had four.
The Bonnies' next game is Friday, April 11, at Saint Joseph's.
