The Short Story:
St. Bonaventure's weekend ended on a disappointing note as the Bonnies fell 1-0 at UMass-Lowell on Sunday afternoon.

After a 3-1 win over Binghamton Friday night at home, the Bonnies could not find a way to score Sunday despite out-shooting the River Hawks 19-12. St. Bonaventure had one shot ring off the cross bar, a free kick by Brittany Charles late in the first half, and had an apparent goal by Abby Maiello with 11 minutes remaining nullified by an offside call.

Taylor Chianese scored the game's only goal in the 20th minute when she received a through pass from Shannon Groffie and went in alone against Bonnies' goalkeeper Christina Sarokon. Chianese's shot beat Sarokon to the left corner.

Sarokon made two saves in the game.

Inside The Stats / Game Notes:

  • Charles led the Bonnies with six shots. Maiello took four.
  • UMass-Lowell is in its second year in NCAA Division I. Last season, the Bonnies beat the River Hawks, 3-1, on McGraw-Jennings Field.

Up Next: The Bonnies are idle until Oct. 3, when they will host Davidson in the Atlantic 10 Conference opener.
