The Short Story: Akron scored three times in the last 26 minutes of the game to pull out a 3-1 win over St. Bonaventure on Friday night.
The teams played scoreless soccer into the second half until junior forward Lauren Hill put the Bonnies in front in the 51st minute. It was Hill's first goal of the season. Sophomore defender Jennifer Morris was credited with the assist.
St. Bonaventure held on to the 1-0 lead until the 64th minute when Hannah Werth beat Bonnies freshman goalkeeper Beth Moore to knot the game. The Zips used the momentum of that score to put on more pressure, putting four shots on Moore in quick succession. The final shot, by Amy Dean from the top of the box, eluded Moore and made it 2-1.
Akron added an insurance goal in the 85th minute as Sarah Sivic put a header in off a pass from Laura Lonigro.
The Bonnies dropped to 2-3 while the Zips, who have losses to Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech, improved to 2-3.
