NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – Rachel Perla and Mary Maestri both scored three goals but St. Bonaventure lost 16-12 at Niagara on Tuesday afternoon.

The Purple Eagles jumped out to a 7-2 lead by the 11:36 mark of the first half.  It was an 8-3 game at halftime, but the Bonnies battled back early in the second half, scoring four straight goals to pull within 8-7. Scarlett Jaworski, Perla, Maestri and Mikayla Place scored St. Bonaventure's goals in the surge.

After seeing the Bonnies pull within one, Niagara answered by scoring five of the next six goals to make it 13-8. From there, St. Bonaventure could not come any closer than three goals.

In addition to Perla and Maestri's goals, Place scored a pair of goals while Jaworski , Taylor Fallon, LeighAnn Stauffer, and Kaitlin Jennings all scored one goal apiece. Maestri also had two assists. Freshman goalkeeper Morgan Conroy made nine saves and had six ground balls.

Grace Hunt led Niagara (3-4) with four goals. 

St. Bonaventure fell to 0-6. The Bonnies will return home to host St. Francis (Pa.) this Thursday, March 19, at 3:00 at the Marra Athletics Fields Complex.
