Conroy Stops 17 Shots But @BonniesLax Falls At GW

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Morgan Conroy made a career high 17 saves but St. Bonaventure lost, 16-10, Sunday afternoon at George Washington.

Conroy made nine saves in the first half to help the Bonnies stay close. The Bonnies led 3-2 early in the game before the Colonials scored four straight to take a 6-3 lead. St. Bonaventure battled back to tie the score at 6-6 on goals from Scarlett Jaworski, Rachel Perla and LeighAnn Stauffer. Stauffer's tying goal came with 3:23 left in the first half.

GW got goals from Rachel Mia and Bailey Forcier to take an 8-6 lead into halftime.

The Colonials grabbed command by scoring five of the first six goals of the second half to open a 13-7 lead. After that, the Bonnies could not cut their deficit any closer than five. 

Stauffer led the Bona offense with three goals. Kaitlin Jennings scored twice. Perla, Jaworski, Mikayla Place, Mary Maestri, and Gabrielle Bradley all scored one goal. 

Conroy faced steady pressure all day as the Bonnies were out-shot 40-19. Her 17 saves topped her previous best of 16 set against UMass.

St. Bonaventure fell to 2-14 overall and 1-6 the Atlantic 10. George Washington improved to 6-8 overall and 4-2 in the A-10.

The Bonnies will complete their season next Sunday, April 26, at Davidson.
