GENEVA, Ohio - The St. Bonaventure women's swimming and diving team completed the first full day of competition at the Atlantic 10 Championship Thursday. The team currently sits in 11th place.
In the 500-yd freestyle, Tanja Kirmse posted a top eight finish. The senior placed seventh overall, swimming a final time of 4:56.98.
Brittany Hart dove well in her championship debut placing fifth overall. The freshman posted a total dive score of 215.45.
In the final race of the night, the St. Bonaventure 200-yd freestyle relay placed 11th overall. The team of Kirmse, Maggie Woods, Sam Kuchinski and Rachel Taylor posted a final time of 1:37.00.
"Tanja once again stepped up to secure us a finals swim and we saw a huge performance from our freshman diver, Brittany Hart," Bonnies head coach Krista Carlson said. "Her performance this evening was huge for us."
The Bonnies will look to continue to climb up the leaderboard as the Atlantic 10 Championships continue Friday. Prelims will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the top 16 finishers returning for the finals at 6:00 p.m.
