Strong First Half Sends Siena Past @BonniesLax, 18-7

Box Score

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team could not overcome a hot start from rival Siena on Saturday afternoon, dropping an 18-7 decision.

St. Bonaventure now stands 1-2 overall on the season while Siena improves to 4-2.

Rachel Perla scored twice for the Bonnies and was the only player in Brown and White to find the net multiple times. For Siena, Lauren Smith and Lynnzee Miller each netted four goals apiece with Michelle Schwartz and Briana Sirianni both posting three tallies.

In the very early minutes, the Bonnies remained even with the Saints. After Siena scored a goal in the opening minute to begin the scoring, Rylee Arnold answered 14 seconds later unassisted for the tie.

Down 2-1, Mary Maestri found the net off a free position shot to square the score at 2-2 at the 26:28 mark.

The Saints then embarked on a 9-0 run to take control of the match before a score from Perla assisted by Mikayla Place ended the Bona drought with 10 minutes left in the half. Siena would take a 14-4 lead to intermission.

Scarlet Jawkorski scored just over a minute into the second half, but from there the Saints were able to run out the clock thanks to their impressive first half.

Morgan Conroy saw the lion's share of time in net for Bona, stopping eight shots.

The Bonnies open their home schedule Wednesday at noon vs. Howard at the Marra Athletics Complex.
