ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Junior Taylor Fallon netted a career-high five goals, but it was not enough for the St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team to overcome Niagara as the Bonnies fell to their Little Three rival, 14-6, on Thursday afternoon at the Marra Athletics Complex.
The Bonnies are now 2-4 on the season while Niagara improves to 4-4.
The teams went back-and-forth early. Niagara struck first at the 24:42 mark when Danielle Maio scored unassisted.
Fallon tallied the next two goals, both assisted by Mikayla Place, giving the Bonnies a 2-1 edge just under 10 minutes in.
The lead would be short-lived as Niagara's Sarah Arndt found the net for the 2-2 tie 44 seconds after Fallon's goal.
At the 18:10 mark of the first period, Fallon completed her early hat trick by giving the Bonnies a 3-2 advantage.
The Purple Eagles quickly rallied, tying the game on a score from Molly Gray less than two minutes later to start what became a 12-0 run.
Niagara took a 9-3 lead into halftime and scored the first five tallies of the second half to push ahead, 14-3.
St. Bonaventure continued to attack late, scoring the final three goals of the day. Olivia MacDonald netted a score with 6:16 remaining off an assist from Rachel Perla before Fallon finished the scoring with two more late goals.
Perla and Place each handed out two assists for the Bonnies. For Niagara, Hailey D'Hont led the scoring with three tallies.
St. Bonaventure returns to action Saturday at St. Francis (Pa.).
