Box Score ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure lost 18-11 to VCU in women's lacrosse Sunday afternoon at the Marra Athletics Complex.
The Bonnies led 5-2 just under 15 minutes into the game. Scarlet Jaworski scored two early goals for St. Bonaventure followed by scores from Taylor Fallon and Maddison Appel. Rachel Perla's tally at the 15:07 mark made it a 5-2 game.
The Rams quickly countered, however, tying the score by the 12:36 mark on a goal by Clare Murphy. VCU's surge continued the rest of the first half, and after two goals in the final 24 seconds of the stanza it was a 10-6 Rams lead at halftime.
Sky Hyatt and Chloe Mujwit opened the second half with goals that pushed VCU's lead to 12-6. The closest the shorthanded Bonnies could come the rest of the way was 14-9.
Fallon led St. Bonaventure with four points on two goals and two assists, while Perla scored a team-leading three goals. Jaworski scored her two while Mikayla Place, Rylee Arnold, Abby Lagoner and Appel tallied one goal apiece. Due to injuries, St. Bonaventure had just two field players available as substitutes.
Sofia Edmond led VCU, a first-year program, with five goals. Hyatt added four goals.
St. Bonaventure fell to 3-9 overall and 1-3 in the A-10. VCU now has identical overall and conference records.
St. Bonaventure's next game will be Friday, April 15, at Massachusetts at 3:00.
