PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's used a balanced attack to get past the St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team, 20-9, on Sunday afternoon at Sweeney Field.
The teams exchanged scoring over the first three-plus minutes before the Hawks rolled off four straight goals. Scarlet Jaworski broke the Bona scoring drought with a goal following a Taylor Fallon assist for a 5-2 score, but the Hawks went on another run to seize a 9-2 advantage with 16:18 remaining in the first half.
Bona closed the half on a surge, as Jaworski, Mikalya Place and Rylee Arnold all found the net to send the game to intermission with a 9-5 score.
Saint Joseph's (6-8, 5-1 Atlantic 10) took complete control early in the second half, however, tallying the first five goals of the period to move ahead, 14-5.
From there, the Hawks never looked back, stretching the lead to 10 at 17-7 with 15:40 to play.
In the waning minutes, St. Bonaventure (3-11, 1-5) received goals from Fallon and Rachel Perla.
Place led the Bonnies with three goals and an assist while Jaworski scored twice as well.
St. Bonaventure returns home next weekend to begin a three-game series to finish out the regular season starting with a Friday contest against George Mason at 4 p.m.
