FAU Tops Women's Soccer, 3-0

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The St. Bonaventure University women's soccer team played its first of a pair of games in the Sunshine State, dropping a 3-0 decision at Florida Atlantic on Friday night.

The teams played to a scoreless draw during the first half with Bonnies keeper Lauren Malcolm stopping the two shots placed on net by the Eagles.

Malcolm turned away another FAU attempt in the 56th minute, and the Bonnies later threatened with a chance of their own.

Bella May tried to get the visitors on the board first with a blast that sailed wide in the 60th minute.

FAU finally found the net with the game's first goal just over 61 minutes in when Sammy Rowland played a cross across the goal line that would be nudged home by Mary O'Hara for the 1-0 score.

The Eagles then seized control of the contest with back-to-back with tallies in the 74th and 75th minutes.

Bona had chances in the waning minutes to break through. Sydney Cerza placed a shot high of the net in the 78th minute. Later, Sabrina Sousa-Sampson put a shot on net that was turned away by FAU keeper Sydney Drinkwater.

Malcolm made five saves in net for the Bonnies.

St. Bonaventure will play another game in the Sunshine State on Sunday afternoon, playing at Florida Gulf Coast with play slated to begin at 1 p.m.
