Longwood Rallies Past Women's Lacrosse, 13-8

FARMVILLE, Va. - The St. Bonaventure University lacrosse team dropped a matchup to Longwood on Friday afternoon, 13-8.

The Bonnies started the game off strong, scoring the game's first three goals, but Longwood would rally to score three straight and tie the game. The Brown and White responded with Mary Maestri and Maddison Appel both finding the net to give the Bonnies a 5-3 lead.

Longwood would score the next two goals to tie the game going into the half.

The Bonnies came out fast in the second half, notching the first goal of the period as Scarlet Jaworski gave St. Bonaventure a 6-5 edge.

Longwood then went on the attack and with five unanswered goals to put the Bonnies behind 10-6 with 18 minutes remaining.

The Brown and White tried to rally late in the game with goals from Jaworksi and LeighAnn Stauffer but Longwood answered the Bonnies rally by scoring the final two goals and to clinch the victory.

St. Bonaventure was led by Jaworski who netted three goals for the Bonnies. Stauffer netted two goals and paced the Brown and White with three assists.

In net, Morgan Conroy kept the Bonnies in the game with a strong performance and keeping the Lancers in check. Conroy finished the game with nine saves.

St. Bonaventure will be back in action Friday, March 17 as it hosts the home opener against Siena. That contest is set for a 1 p.m. start at the Marra Athletics Complex in a game that was rescheduled from March 4 due to cold weather conditions.
