WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A six-run fifth inning helped the St. Bonaventure baseball team break open its series finale with North Dakota State on Sunday and head home with a 7-3 victory.

Bona led 1-0 after a Tommy LaCongo RBI single in the second, but would seize complete control in the fifth after sending 11 men to the plate.

Jared Baldinelli singled to lead off, moving to third on a double off the bat of LaCongo. T.J. Baker drove home the first run of the frame with his base knock to right followed up by another run-scoring single from Taishi Terashima. Aaron Phillips drove in two more with his single back up the middle before a sacrifice fly from David Vaccaro and another RBI base hit from David Hollins left the Bonnies rolling with six runs on six hits.

The Bison would not make things easy in the late innings, though, sending the tying run to the plate in both the eighth and ninth.

With the bases loaded in the eighth, Donovan Moffat came on in relief. After a hit batter forced in an unearned run following a Bonnies error, Moffat shut the door by delivering a ground ball to first base and retire the side.

In the ninth, the Bison again loaded the bases with two outs before Baker forced a fly ball to center to end the game.

Phillips moved to 2-0 on the mound with seven innings of two-run work. He walked just one, allowed five hits and fanned five batters. Baker worked around trouble for a scoreless ninth while Roman Wild also worked two outs in the eighth and was charged with an unearned run.

LaCongo, Phillips and Terashima all had two hits apiece with Phillips also driving in two runs in a complete performance.

NDSU starter Jordan Harms (0-3) was tagged with the loss after surrendering five runs in four innings.

St. Bonaventure finishes its action in Florida with a 5-5 record while NDSU is now 7-8 overall. Next up for the Bonnies after returning home is a trip to North Carolina and the open of Atlantic 10 play with a three-game series at Davidson March 17-19.

- The St. Bonaventure bullpen has not allowed an earned run in its last 14 innings of work.
- Phillips had four combined RBIs in the Bonnies wins Saturday and Sunday.
- Phillips has allowed just three earned runs over his last 14 innings pitched in his past two starts.
- Vaccaro leads the Bonnies with nine RBIs on the season.
- Bona's six-run fifth is the most productive inning of the season for the Brown and White.
