The Starting Five Notes
1.  Saturday afternoon, St. Bonaventure completes the regular season by hosting UMass. The Bonnies can clinch fifth place in the Atlantic 10 with a win. Playing in the final home game of their careers, seniors Denzel Gregg, David Andoh and Caleb McGuire will honored in a traditional pre-game ceremony.

2.  St. Bonaventure is in sole possession of fifth place in the A-10, one game ahead of George Washington and George Mason. The Bonnies have already earned their third straight season with double-digit A-10 wins, which is a new program standard.

3.  Gregg, who has played in 111 career games and helped St. Bonaventure to 76 wins, is among the A-10 leaders in rebounding, blocks and field goal percentage. Gregg has eight double-doubles this year, most recently 15 points and 14 rebounds in the Bonnies' Feb. 25 win over Duquesne.

3.  Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley combine to average 40.2 points per game. Between them, they have 29 games of 20 points or more. Adams ranks 20th nationally and second in the A-10 in scoring (20.9). Mobley, who was named A-10 Player of the Week after he averaged 25.5 points over two wins last week, ranks fourth in the A-10 at 19.5 points per game.

4.  A candidate for A-10 Player of the Year, Adams does much more than just score from his point guard position. He leads the A-10 and ranks seventh in the country in assists (6.5 per game). Over the last six games, Adams had 46 assists and 21 turnovers. He also ranks second in the A-10 and 23rd nationally in steals (2.1). Adams' 176 assists so far this season ranks fourth on St. Bonaventure's single season list and is 40 shy of the school record.

Series Notes: This will be the 68th meeting between these long-time Atlantic 10 rivals. UMass holds a 41-26 series lead, but the Bonnies have won seven of the last nine meetings. Last season, the teams played a classic on Senior Day at the RC with the Bonnies winning 85-83 on a last-second layup by Marcus Posley.

St. Bonaventure vs. UMass: The Last Meeting
Dec. 30, 2016 at Mullins Center: Bonnies 89, UMass 77
With its veteran backcourt and forward Denzel Gregg leading a poised team, St. Bonaventure won its Atlantic 10 opener. Leading for all but one minute of the game, the Bonnies won the game with solid defense, ball control and free throw shooting. They also got 52 points from their backcourt as Adams finished with 29 and Mobley 23. St. Bonaventure held the Minutemen to 42 percent shooting overall including 5-20 (25 percent) from three-point range. The Bonnies got to the free throw line 38 times and made 33. Adams was the catalyst in the first half as he scored 19 points before halftime. After the point guard got into foul trouble in the second half, Mobley picked the slack by scoring 15 points in the frame. Gregg totaled 11 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

UMass Notes:
• UMass lost at home to Richmond on Wednesday, 75-64. The Spiders went 15-26 from three-point range. Last Sunday, UMass topped La Salle 84-71.
• The Minutemen use a deep bench with four players averaging better than 10 points per game. Last in the A-10 in three-point field goal percentage (.301), UMass looks to go inside to center Rashaan Holloway or get to the free throw line. UMass is a fairly young team with three freshmen in its rotation.
• Guard Zach Lewis, who scored 37 points against La Salle, is a transfer from Canisius.

Gregg Provides Senior Leadership
Like many St. Bonaventure players before, Denzel Gregg's career has been marked by improvement, a testament to the program's player development. The team's only four-year senior, the 6-7 forward has scored in double figures 19 times, including a career-high 28 in the win over La Salle Feb. 15. His 12.2 average for the year is almost three points a game better than last year. At the same time, Gregg continues to be a factor on both ends of the floor. He is fifth in the A-10 in rebounding (7.8) and third in blocks. Gregg leads all A-10 players in offensive rebounds (3.0/game). Eight of his nine career double-doubles have been this season. Gregg stands fifth all-time at Bona's in blocked shots with 135.

Top 20 In Nation In Free Throw Pct.; Season Record Within Reach
Last season, St. Bonaventure set a school record with a .773 free throw percentage. This year, the Bonnies are at .760 at the charity stripe, which is 20th best in the country and second in the Atlantic 10. Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley both rank in the top 10 in the conference in free throw percentage and have combined to sink 322 free throws. Overall, the Bonnies have made 68 more free throws than their opponents. St. Bonaventure has made 550 free throws this season, which is only five short of the school record of 555 set in the 1956-57 season.

Mobley Sets Three-Point Pace
Matt Mobley's 84 three-pointers so far this year rank fifth-best in a single season in program history. The record is 101 by Chris Matthews in 2009-10. Feb. 4 against VCU, Mobley broke the school record for three-pointers in a game with nine. He has made at least one three-pointer in 26 of the Bonnies' 29 games this year.

Adams Top 20 In Scoring & Assists
Even while earning the full attention of every opposing defense, Jaylen Adams continues to play at an All-Conference level. Adams is 20th in the nation in scoring (20.9 ppg) and seventh nationally in assists (6.5 apg). Certainly a candidate for A-10 Player of the Year, he leads the A-10 in assists and is just behind Davidson's Jack Gibbs for the A-10 scoring lead. Adams is also is third in the Atlantic 10 in three-pointers (2.6/game) and third in steals (2.0). Adams has 14 games of 20 points or more on the year, including three 30-point performances, most recently a career high 35 at Dayton. He also has four points/assists double-doubles. In the Bonnies' win at Saint Louis, Adams tied the school record with 14 assists, the second time in his career he did that.

Adams Climbs Season Assists Chart; Cracks Top Five All-Time
Jaylen Adams' brilliant season at the point guard spot has him moving up in the St. Bonaventure record book. Adams' 176 assists so far this season ranks fourth-best in program history. The record is 216 set by Marques Green in 2003-04. Adams has 425 career assists, which ranks fifth on St. Bonaventure's all-time assists chart. With five assists Feb. 25 against Duquesne, he passed Norm Clarke (419). Adams is only the eighth Bonnies player to reach the 400-assist plateau, and also the eighth player in school history to surpass 1,000 points and 400 assists.

Mobley Makes All-Conference Case
By any measure, Matt Mobley has provided instant offense in his debut season at St. Bonaventure and has played at an All-Conference level. The 6-3 junior guard ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 19.3 points per game. He has 15 games with 20 points or more including three 30-point games, most recently 31 at Saint Joseph's Feb. 22. On Feb. 4, he scored a career high 34 points against VCU, setting a school record with nine three-pointers. Mobley is second in the A-10 in three-point field goals (84 total, 2.9 per game), is eighth in three-point percentage (.396) and fourth in free throw percentage (.853). Mobley is doing much more than just scoring -- he is also averaging 6.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. He is 11th in the A-10 in rebounding, and the second-leading rebounder among guards.
